Why trust wins - a podcast
In this portfolio world, I lead two businesses. One is this one, where you get me as a coach, consultant and keynote speaker.
The other is called Mutual Value www.mutual-value.com. I run it with a colleague, Kevin Vaughan-Smith, and in that business we focus on training teams for high trust relationships and work on cultural strategy. Kevin and I have been commissioned by Economist Books to write a book called Choose Trust and this has prompted us to begin a podcast series in which we’ll hear from leading thinkers on the subject.
Our first guest is John Neill of Unipart, a real innovator who, 35 years ago, created a new way of running a business that has been the foundation of massive growth and global expansion. It was called the Unipart Way, and it is based on what he calls ‘Model B’ thinking - a different approach to leading and selling which emphasises high trust relationships, collective vision with clients, colleagues and suppliers (a strategic narrative) and a commitment to partnership.
It’s worked, and his answers to our questions about this all contain pearls of wisdom that can apply to any business anywhere. Give it a listen.
